Comic Collaboration: The Design Challenge

In this project, the goal was to create a 4-page comic that describes the main idea from chapters 1 and 6 in Don Norman’s book, The Design Challenge. For this project, I was paired with a classmate named Britteney Arnold and did the design, theory, and artwork for this comic as a group over the course of 2 days. The Comic’s concept and story board where drawn up by both me and my partner together. Then the initial version of the comic, along with the character designs and text where drawn by hand digitally in Paint Tool Sai by my partner. Finally, the whole comic was transferred to Illustrator where I re-did all the line work and added some effects for a crisper finished piece. The comics text was left hand written due to constraints from the project guidelines.

Overall this project was well executed I think, and does a good job of explaining Don Norman’s theories from the book. Feel free to use the link below to download the full PDF version of the comic for easy viewing!

This is an image of a Comic I designed to explain theories from a book by Don Norman. The Comic depicts a woman trying to fix a hard to use lamp while describing Don Norman's take on the the design challenges all designers must deal with.
